Barnard Fine Sediment Measurements from Freshwater Creek, Humboldt County

Barnard (1992) measured fine sediment (<1.0 mm) in Freshwater Creek, which has very erodible rock types, and found low sediment levels in most streams. The watershed had experienced 40-60 years of rest from timber harvest prior to this study. This suggests that sediment levels found in the Noyo River by Burns (1972) are not representative of background levels. Shown against TMDL threshold (NCRWQCB, 1999).
