This is a map of the EPA Landcover/Landuse in the Elk River sub-basin, based on a 1992 Landsat TM satellite image. Flat areas are mostly agriculture (orange) and
residential-commercial. Coniferous forest (green) and mixed forest (lighter green) dominate the slopes, although large patches of shrubs and grassland are now evident
in timber harvested areas that were once totally coniferous forest. These large grassland and herbaceous patches are indicative of intensive deforestation. Click the
check box next to a layer to toggle it on/off. Other available layers include sub-basins, Calwater Planning Watersheds, Towns, and 1:24,000 roads and streams. Use
the Pan (hand icon) and Zoom (magnifying glass icons) tools to move around the map. Scale = 1:117,547 .
