Sediment: Willow Creek - Sediment Delivery Rates, MRC 2001 |
|
Caption: This chart shows estimated sediment delivery rates (tons/sq. mi./yr) input to Willow Creek sub-watershed. Estimates were computed by decade for the Mendocino Redwood Company Willow/Freezeout Creeks WAU in 2001. Some estimates were not available for all erosion source types for all years. High sediment outputs from skid trails occurred in the 1950's and 1960's that are associated with a high level of skid trail construction from tractor-based logging. High levels of Gully erosion are contributed to the removal of streamside tress in the 1950's and 1960's. Mass wasting sediment input reached 548 tons/sq. mi./yr in the 1980's. Sediment input have decreased more recently due to a combination of reduced harvest activity and improved harvest and erosion control practices. See InfoLinks for more information.
