WQ: Estuary Temp, Salinity and DO Grab Sta #3 10/8/98 Pre-Breaching |
|
Caption: This water quality profile of the Russian River estuary near the mouth of Willow Creek (Station #3) before breaching on October 8, 1998 (see Picture tab for map). The profile shows that dissolved oxygen was adequate for salmonids down to a depth of five meters, but deteriorated in deeper waters. The nearly freshwater lens down to two meters gave way to salinity levels almost equal to full strength sea water below five meters. temperature moderated slightly at depth. Data from Merritt Smith Consulting (1999) and Sonoma County. See InfoLinks for more information and subsequent Topics to see how breaching effected water quality at this site.
