KRIS Russian River: Meta Information Page
This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.
Meta Identifier | CDFG_Temp |
Type of Data | Temperature |
Originator | California Department of Fish and Game |
Description | Water temperature data collected using automatic temperature probes in the Russian River and its tributaries for the years 2000 and 2001. CDFG provided NCRWQCB data for their assessment of Temperature impairment in Russian River basin (final report due summer 2003). Data were provided to Jeff Church (then employee of NCRWQCB) in 2002 in the form of a .dtf file for each site*year and .xls files, and station coordinates in lat long. Clarification regarding location and actual set dates obtained by Jeff from phone and email interviews. Eli Asarian of IFR-KRIS staff created an ArcView shapefile of monitoring locations from Jeff's (incomplete) spreadsheet of latitude/longitudes; it is included in the KRIS ArcView map project and KRIS Map Viewer topics. |

Maint. and Update Freq. | In general, temperature monitoring occurs in streams during the year that that are being hab. typed |
Purpose | To establish baseline data for stream temperatures in the Russian River basin. Data are used to make decisions about habitat restoration. |
Data Quality Information | Data quality is high, although probes may not have been calibrated. Temperature sets trimmed of aberrant readings (i.e. exposure to air) by CDFG and NCRWQCB staff. |
