This 1973 photograph shows a box culvert with four percent slope that was considered to be a problem for fish passage. The caption on the back of the photograph reads: "Union Oil Company road crossing above Geysers Resort. Facing west and showing culvert. 8/1/73 B. Finlayson." The image was scanned from a photograph at the archives of the California Department of Fish and Game regional office in Yountville, California. The photograph was attached to a 1976 CDFG culvert assessment by G. Holman which stated, in part: "Steelhead once utilized this stream extensively, but due to geothermal activities and the culvert, their numbers have been reduced substantially."
