Land Use: Colgan Creek Watershed |
|
Caption: This chart shows similar proportions of the Colgan Creek watershed have been developed as in the Brush Creek watershed (see previous Topic). A major difference between the two watersheds is that Colgan Creek has a much higher amount of Roadway, which is 100% impervious and a higher component of Commercial, which likely has large areas of paving associated with parking lots. A large amount of total impervious area in the watershed increases flood peaks, contributes to down cutting and reduces biodiversity (May et al., 1996). There is no Open Space designated in this watershed. Vacant Land and Recreation areas would provide some watershed areas which maintain more natural runoff patterns. Data are from the Sustainable Land Stewardship Institute (2002) and a study performed for the City of Santa Rosa. See InfoLinks for more information.
