Fish: Redwood Creek Spawner Salmonid Count 1969 and 1977 |
|
Caption: This graph shows counts of live and dead coho salmon and steelhead trout from one-day spawner surveys conducted in Redwood Creek, one in January 1969 and the other on December 30, 1977. The survey reach was two miles from the falls at Bootjack Creek-Rattlesnake Creek confluence, to the Frank Valley Road crossing near the southeastern boundary of Muir Woods National Monument. It was noted from the 1977 survey that all coho salmon showed signs of Saprolegnia infection. Also from 1977, the values above may not be representative of true spawner numbers because many tourists were present at the park and may have caused the fish to seek shelter. Data were collected by the California Department of Fish and Game. See Info Links for more information.
