KRIS West Marin-Sonoma: Chart Page

Area S Marin/Redwood Creek
Topic Habitat: Bolinas Lagoon Tribs Percent Habitat Type 1997-1998

Caption:  The east-side tributaries of Bolinas Lagoon were surveyed to determine the proportion of habitat types. Pool frequency was low (<21%) in all but Easkoot Creek. Dry reaches comprised 14-51% of habitat surveyed. These conditions are usually associated with aggraded streams. The surveyors note that Lower Easkoot Creek includes a "Marsh" categorization, which does not follow standard stream habitat classification. In addition, the high percentage of pool habitat in Easkoot Creek may not reflect standard pool habitat. A large portion of this creek (0-500 meters) is a tidally influenced slough with a residual pool depth of zero. Data were collected by the Golden Gate National Recreation Area.
