Caption: The sinuosity of the channel of Battle Creek and its tributaries at 50 sites was measured as part of the Battle Creek Watershed Assessment to assist in determining the Rosgen channel type. Terraqua (2004) used U.S. Forest Service guidelines related to EMDS but "calculations of sinuosity use only those thalweg points measured at cross sectional transects" despite the fact that Aquatic and Riparian Effectiveness Monitoring Protocols (AREMP) changed between 2001 and 2003 while the Battle WA was already underway. Other parameters used for channel typing are entrenchment, width to depth ratio and slope. See Info Links for more information.
