Area Caspar Creek
Topic Fish: Total Trap Catch by Species, 1999

Caption:  The total catch in the California Department of Fish and Game's fyke net gives an indication of aquatic vertebrate community structure in Caspar Creek. Coho salmon smolts were more abundant than steelhead trout smolts in 1999. The population structure was similar among these fishes, with almost equal numbers young-of-the-year and yearling outmigrants. Numbers of fish trapped cannot be construed as a fish population estimate because of unknown trap efficiency and avoidance of the trap by fish at higher flows. See Info Links for more information.
