KRIS Garcia River: Chart Page

Area Basin-wide/General
Topic Sediment: 1994 McNeil Samples <4.0 mm Inman/Redwood

Caption:  Charlotte Morrison collected fine sediment data in Inman and Redwood creeks using wet-sieve McNeil sampling techniques and results of fine sediment less than 4.0 mm are displayed here. The reference of 30% fine sediment less than 6.4 mm comes from the Garcia River TMDL (U.S. EPA, 1998) and applies to wet sieve samples. Fines in Inman Creek and Redwood Creek samples exceeded the reference. Since Morrison chose a 4.0 mm not a 6.4 mm sieve to represent sand and fine gravel, particles in this size class known to infiltrate into redds are under-represented. See InfoLinks for more information.
