The graph above is taken from USFS Excel spreadsheets containing Horse Linto 1994 downstream migrant trapping results. It shows that steelhead out migrants peaked in early June while Chinook trap numbers peaked in mid-May. As stream temperatures peaked in late July, salmonid juvenile migrants dropped sharply. Graphic provided by the Lower Trinity Ranger District, Six Rivers National Forest.

Chinook juveniles captured in the Horse Linto downstream migrant rotary screw trap increased in size throughout the season. The peak of downstream migration occurred in May when the average length of Chinook fry was 50-60 mm. The length increased in June to an average of 60-70 mm and late migrants in July were often 70-80 mm. This indicates that conditions for growth in Horse Linto were good. The largest migrant Chinook exceeded 110 mm. The Lower Trinity Ranger District, Six Rivers National Forest, provided the graph above in an Excel spreadsheet.

Steelhead juveniles captured in the Horse Linto downstream migrant rotary screw trap show a bimodal peak in migration. Older age steelhead (>80 mm) peaked in April and May while young of the year steelhead showed a later peak migration. The lack of young of steelhead migrating in April suggests that they may still have been in the gravel. The presence of very small steelhead into July suggests that there may be a large component of late spawning steelhead in Horse Linto Creek. The juvenile steelhead increased in size throughout the season with May and June's fish 30-40 mm. Young of the year steelhead migrating in July fell more in the 50-60 mm range. The largest migrant older age steelhead exceeded 160 mm. The Lower Trinity Ranger District, Six Rivers National Forest, provided the graph above in an Excel spreadsheet.
