Topic Temperature: Floating Weekly Average at Boise Creek 1997-2002

Caption:  This Chart shows the floating weekly average water temperatures at lower Boise Creek (site 165) for the years 1997-2002. Maximum floating weekly average water temperature (MWAT) exceeded 16.8°C in 5 of 6 years, which exceeds habitable for coho salmon juveniles (Welsh et al., 2001); however, this remains in suitable ranges for steelhead rearing. Boise Creek also helps cool the mainstem Klamath River. Temperature data come from automated water temperature data probes placed in the Klamath River and its tributaries by the Klamath National Forest and the Karuk Tribe.
