KRIS Klamath : Meta Information Page

This page contains detailed information about a data set in KRIS, including where the original data reside and how to contact the sources for the data. Data sets are linked to the appropriate page by means of the Meta Identifier. Many data sets can be linked to same page by sharing the same Meta Identifier.

Meta IdentifierCDFG_DSMT
Type of DataShasta River Juvenile Salmonid Downstream Migrant Trapping Data
OriginatorCalifornia Department of Fish and Game
DescriptionDownstream migrating salmonids captured in fike nets, counted, measured, weighed and released in Shasta River and Bogus Creek by the CDFG Natural stocks assessment program from 1981, 1986, 1987, 1988 and 1990. Steelhead Research and Monitoring Program (S-RAMP) operated a rotary screw trap from 2000-2002. These data include calibrated trap efficiencies and total sample estimates for steelhead and Chinook salmon.

Maint. and Update Freq.Periodic
Data Quality InformationTrap efficiency not calibrated on earlier samples. Larger salmonid juveniles, such as 1+ and 2+ steelhead, may avoid these traps. High flows may result in low capture but may not reflect true number of fish moving at the time.
Use ConstraintsDownstream migrant trapping data cannot be used to estimate populations unless trap efficiency is calibrated, such as in S-RAMP studies.
