Fish: Downstream Migrant Trap Juv Chinook Est. Willow Cr 1991-2000 |
|
Caption: This chart shows a summary of results for juvenile Chinook salmon from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service operated downstream migrant trap near Willow Creek on the mainstem Trinity River for the years 1991 to 2000. Because trap efficiencies have been calibrated, annual estimates of the number of juvenile fish passing the trap can be calculated. The low number of juvenile Chinook in 1991 and 1992 reflects both low escapements of adults the previous year and very low flow conditions. Juvenile Chinook abundance has varied from 77,230 in 1991 to just fewer than 2,000,000 in 1998, although more than 50% were hatchery fish in the latter year. See the Source Table for more recent raw data. Data from this chart is from Scheiff et al. (2001). See Info Links for more information and a link to reports.
