Temperature: Temp Max Black Bear Creek Bracket @ SF Salmon 1998 |
|
Caption: This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures during summer 1998 in the SF Salmon River above, below and in Black Bear Creek. Maximum daily air temperatures at Black Bear Creek are also shown. Water temperature data in the SF Salmon below Black Bear Creek is missing for the period 6/2-8/24/98 due to a malfunctioning temperature sensor. Notice that Black Bear Creek was warmer than the SF Salmon until mid July, then was cooler during the hottest period of the summer. Although cooler, Black Bear Creek did not seem to have much of a cooling influence on the SF, which suggests it may not be large enough to noticeably affect the temperature of the SF. Black Bear Creek confluence with the SF did provide a cold water refugia for Salmonids during the heat of mid summer. The data were collected by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council.
