Caption: This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures during the summer of 2000 of the SF Salmon River below Knownothing Creek and in Knownothing Creek. Water temperatures for the SF Salmon above Knownothing are missing due to a faulty Hobotemp. Notice that, starting in late July, Knownothing Creek was noticeably cooler than the SF Salmon. The mouth of Knownothing Creek provided a cold water refugia for Salmonids during the summer temperature peak. Data were collected by automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade between June and November2000. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council. Click on Pictures* to see recent historical data and photographs of Hobotemp sites.
