Caption: This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures in Olson Creek during the summer of 1995. Notice that water temperatures never reached levels stressful for Salmonids. Olson Creek suffered watershed damage as a result of a fire in 1987, but the damage does not seem to have caused major problems with stream temperatures. The 1995 water year, however, was very wet, which would serve to moderate temperatures in Salmon River tributaries. Data for this chart was derived from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by students at Forks of Salmon School, community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council.
