Click on image to enlarge (248K). This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures during summer of 1998 in the SF Salmon above, below and in Cecil Creek. Notice that Cecil Creek was slightly warmer than the SF Salmon until early July, and then was noticeably cooler during the hottest period of the summer. Interestingly, the SF Salmon was cooler above the Cecil Creek confluence than below it. Although Cecil Creek did not significantly affect the temperature in the SF Salmon, its mouth did provide a cold water refugia for Salmonids during the summer temperature peak. Data were collected by automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council. This chart was created from Chart Table CEMAX98.dbf, which was filtered from Source Table sfork98.dbf.
