Click on image to enlarge (348K). This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures in 1999 of the NF Salmon River above, below and in North Russian Creek. The water temperature in the NF Salmon above North Russian Creek reached levels stressful to Salmonids for two short periods during the summer months. North Russian Creek seemed to influence the temperature of the NF Salmon below the confluence during mid summer. Interestingly, from mid September on, the water temperature of the NF Salmon below North Russian Creek was warmer than above the confluence. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council. This chart was derived from Chart Table NRUMAX99.dbf, which was filtered from Source Table Salmon99.dbf.
This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures in 2000 of the NF Salmon River above, below and in North Russian Creek. Note that the water temperature in the NF Salmon and North Russian Creek stayed below levels stressful to Salmonids during the entire summer. North Russian Creek seemed to have a cooling influence on the water temperature of the NF Salmon in late summer and autumn. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council.
This chart shows the maximum daily water temperatures in 2001 of North Russian Creek and of the NF Salmon River above and below North Russian Creek. Note that the water temperature in the NF Salmon both above and below North Russian stayed above levels stressful to Salmonids for almost the entire summer. North Russian rose above stressful levels during mid July and mid August. North Russian Creek did have a cooling influence on the water temperature of the NF Salmon. Data were collected from automated temperature sensors called Hobotemps, which were anchored in flowing water in the shade. Hobotemps were monitored by community volunteers and paid staff of the Salmon River Restoration Council.
