Fish: Steelhead Juvenile Density Hayfork (2) Below Miner (Dive) 1994 |
|
Caption: Juvenile steelhead were found in much higher densities below Miner Creek (Reach 2) than below Nine Mile Bridge (scroll down for a key to habitat type numbers). Note that steelhead young were at the highest densities in pools of any of the reaches surveyed in Hayfork Creek. Cold water from Miner Creek and other tributaries may have improved suitability of pool habitat by lowering the temperature of Hayfork Creek. Click on Info Links for more information. Habitat types are as follows:
High Gradient Riffle = 2, Cascade = 3, Trench Pool = 8, Run = 15, Step Run = 16,
Main Channel Pool = 17, Pocket Water = 20
