Temperature: FWA at NF Indian Cr - upr (Site 86-2) 1994-95, 00-01 |
|
Caption: The chart shows the floating weekly average water temperature in Celsius (°C) at the upper North Fork Indian Creek (site 86-2) for the years 1994-1995 and 2000-2001. Maximum floating weekly average water temperatures exceeded 19.0°C during all four years measured. Based on a review of steelhead growth studies, Sullivan et al. (2000) found that compared to optimum temperatures, a maximum floating weekly average temperature (MWAT) of 17.0°C reduced steelhead growth by 10%, and an MWAT of 19.0°C reduced growth by 20%. Sullivan thresholds were used in NF Indian Creek because it is unclear whether coho utilize this stream. A late 1960s CDFG visual survey found coho fry in the lower reaches (CDFG 1969). However, historical anecdotes and channel slope maps suggest that coho are more likely to utilize the mainstem Indian Creek (Tindall 1978). See Info Links for more information.
