Instream Structure Information in KRIS

KRIS Web Background Pages: Instream Structures

The California Department of Fish and Game and the California Department of Forestry have begun a cooperative restoration project to place large wood in stream channels in Jackson Demonstration State Forest. In the Noyo River basin  Parlin Creek has received the most attention so far. Large wood has been placed in the stream channel, structure stability is being  monitored and data about how juvenile coho salmon and steelhead are using the habitat created is being collected. (Collins, 1999). Only preliminary results were available as the KRIS Noyo project went to press.
