Caption: Dry sieved McNeil bulk gravel samples were collected at three stations in Redwood Creek during 1994 and 1995 by the University of San Francisco for the Golden Gate National Recreation Area. The graph shows the cumulative percent of sediments finer than the associated grain size on the x-axis from the 1995 sampling. Fines less than 1 mm are most injurious to eggs and larvae of salmonids and no site had inordinately high levels (<14%), however, mean particle size was small (<20 mm) except at Station 2. Station 1 was located near headwaters, Station 2 at Muir Woods Road mile 1.96, and Station 3 at Muir Beach parking lot.
