Fish: Steelhead Juvenile Density Hayfork (1) @ 9 Mile Br. (Dive) 1994 |
|
Caption: Steelhead densities below Nine Mile Bridge on Hayfork Creek were very low in August 1994 in all habitat types (scroll down for a key to habitat type numbers). Note that the maximum density is less than 0.05 per square meter whereas densities of 0.2 to 0.4 occur in the reaches below Miner Creek and Corral Creek. The fish fauna in this reach was dominated by speckled dace during the survey. Hayfork Creek at Nine Mile Bridge has warm water temperatures because of influences of agricultural activity and domestic water extraction in the Hayfork Valley. Habitat types are as follows: Low Gradient Riffle = 1, High Gradient Riffle = 2, Run = 15, Step Run = 16, Main Channel Pool = 17. Data from Higgins (1995).
