Caption:  This chart shows steelhead catch per unit effort (CPUE) from beach seining samples between May 21, 1996 and December 3, 1997 at three sites in the Navarro River Estuary. Notice increases in CPUE from the upper and middle sites after lagoon formed September 20, 1996 and September 3, 1997 (Cannata, 1998). Low CPUE in the upper and middle sites from January to April, 1997 is caused in part by reduced capture efficiency related to high flows. Staging of juvenile steelhead before ocean entry may be reflected in high catch rates in November in the lower estuary. Data were taken from Figure 2 in the Navarro Estuary Report (Cannata, 1998).
