|
Caption: The chart shows canopy closure from habitat typing surveys in the mainstem Navarro River sub-basin in 1996. Streams are sorted by Strahler order, with larger streams at the top. The coniferous canopy was highest in Mustard Gulch at 97%, and was 50% or greater in 6 of the 11 streams surveyed (55%). Three of 11 streams surveyed (27%) contained < 80% total canopy coverage. Shade canopy can moderate water temperatures. CDFG stream survey reports state, "In general, revegetation projects are considered when canopy density is less than 80%."
