Caption:  The chart shows that 9 of 23 reaches of the North Folk Navarro or its tributaries (40%) were found to have embeddedness of greater than 50% at more than half the pool tails measured. Tributaries Bottom and Cook Creeks, Spooner and Matilla Gulches and branches of the North Fork have 40% or more of gravels in optimal conditions, which is less than 25% embedded (CDFG, 1998). These visual estimates involve some subjectivity, and are not valuable in describing spawning and incubation habitat conditions, as are quantitative measures like McNeil samples or permeability.
